A 16 years old, exuding a pleasant personality, passionate for music and confident in the way she carries herself.’ That’s probably how people remember Angie Hou when she first appeared on music shows back in 1998. Her talent and her pleasing manner delighted the audience and attracted record company contracts. She finally decided to sign with EMI and that’s the beginning of Angie’s road to stardom.

In 1999, Angie became more known when two commercial companies invited her to be the lead in two large productions. Through this publicity, Angie became more familiar to people in Taiwan. Meanwhile, seeing the potential in Angie, the record company is training Angie to her best for her singing career.

This sudden fame and fortune didn’t make Angie quit school. Since she studied in Chiayi, she flew between Chiayi and Taipei where she spent her weekends for her star training sessions, including vocal training, performance training, makeup, nutrition, health and beauty. Angie indeed enjoy a packed schedule and she handles it well. Her energy and enthusiasm get her excited for what she’s doing and she never gets tired of it.

The nickname ‘Big Baby’ came from Angie’s designer since she always asks why; she giggles on every little thing; and she whines whenever she forgets to do or to bring something.

In 2000, EMI released her debut album “Angie Hou” which received pretty good reviews in Taiwan and the popularity was picked up by the later best selling album “Do You Love Me?” Angie’s third album “Love’s Travel” has been released this June.

Angie’s latest offering is more mature in style and diversified in genres than the previous two. She boldly experiences electronics, rock, and Bossa Nova. The concept behind “Love’s Travel” is a journey of a teenage girl wondering about and searching for love, from Paris to Tokyo, from River Seine to the Mediteranean. Each song expresses the nuances of love.

At the age of 19, Angie is probably going to take some turns in her career, perhaps she may surprise us in the near future.
